Professor of Rehabilitation Sciences at KU Leuven in Belgium. He is a Fellow of the European Respiratory Society. His research focusses on the importance of physical activity in patients with COPD and the benefits of exercise training and pulmonary rehabilitation in chronic respiratory disease. Thierry Troosters has been assembly head of the allied health professional assembly of ERS and he is the chair of the scientific committee of the Federal council for Physiotherapy in Belgium. Prof Troosters published more than 170 papers and contributed to several position statements of the European Respiratory Society and American Thoracic Society. With Prof Pitta he chaired the HERMES initiative that did set up a European Respiratory Physiotherapy curriculum.
